OILED OAK

Oak (Quercus robur) is a deciduous tree of the oak genus, from the Fagaceae family. It reaches a height of about 40 m, while exceptionally old specimens can grow up to 50 m. The trunk can reach a diameter of up to 3 m.

This tree can live for 500 to 800 years. Its crown is broad, irregular and well branched.

The bark of young trees is smooth with a slight grey-green sheen, later developing longitudinal cracks. With age it becomes thick, grey-brown and deeply furrowed.

Oak has narrow yellowish-white annual rings, while the central part ranges from light to dark brown. The average density of green wood is around 0.65 (0.39–0.93) g/cm³.

Oak wood is hard, tough, highly durable and easy to work with. It is used for a variety of purposes: in construction, for railway sleepers, beams and posts.

In interior design it is used for various types of parquet flooring, stairs and furniture. High-quality oak is also used for veneer and for making fine, highly valued barrels.

Thanks to its high elasticity and strength, oak is ideal for floors exposed to heavy loads. Behind the vivid design, distinguished by warm colors and rich forms, are decades of natural growth.
